Area Attractions

  • Golf - There are 19 fine golf courses open to the public within a 30 minute drive. Add 15 minutes and you can add another 10 courses.
  • Food - Fresh seafood, of course, is our specialty. Places like Jesse’s, only a mile down the road, specializing in New Orleans Cuisine, the Fish House, the Original Oyster Bar in Gulf Shores and Mobile. The list goes on and on until you have difficulty deciding whether you want Chinese, Japanese, Western Barbecue, Mama Lou’s home cooking or a franchised food. LuLu’s Grill, operated by Jimmy Buffet’s sister, on the Intracoastal Canal in Gulf Shores is another great place to have an outdoor lunch on a nice day.
  • Shopping - We have one of the largest outlet malls in the United States down the road a piece, only about 6 miles. It’s known as the Tanger Factory Outlets. It houses more than 120 stores. We also have a Walmart Super Store, a Home Depot, Lowe’s, Ace Hardware and several supermarket stores.
  • Bird Watchers & Nature Lovers - Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge is both permanent and temporary home for endangered species and migratory birds. Over 4,000 acres of beach dunes, scrub dunes, fresh water marsh, salt water marsh, and Maritime forest make up the Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge. Providing refuge for the endangered loggerhead sea turtle, the endangered American alligator, and the rare gopher tortoise. It is part of the migration route of the monarch butterfly, and is also known for its more than 120 species of birds - making it a paradise for bird watchers.
  • History Buffs - where the Spanish explorers hacked their way through dense oak under growth to build the first trails across our coastal plains. This is where the Indians massacred the whites and the whites massacred the Indians. This is where we built forts to protect our shorelines. This is where we have enshrined the battleship Alabama, a submarine, airplanes and an LST. This is where you can make a short excursion to the National Naval Aviation Museum at Pensacola Naval Station.
